The Bollywood superstar Salman Khan is one of the most loved actors of the Indian film industry and he has given many superhit movies in his career but he has also missed out on some blockbusters.
Here in this article, we will let you know about several movies which Salman Khan rejected and they changed the fortunes of few big actors including Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan.
1. Chak De! India (2007):
The role of the hockey coach which was played by Shah Rukh Khan was first offered to Salman Khan but he refused to do it as he wasn’t happy with the climax of the movie. It is being said that the producer Aditya Chopra even said to Salman that he would make it the biggest hit and he had no idea as to what he was missing out.
2. Kal Ho Naa Ho (2003):
“Kal Ho Naa Ho” that starred Preity Zinta and Saif Ali Khan along with SRK in important roles was a big hit at the box-office. Initially, Salman Khan was approached for the character which was played by Saif but the “Wanted” actor was not ready to play second fiddle to Shah Rukh Khan.
3. Baazigar (1993):
The director duo of Abbas-Mustan first offered the lead role to Salman Khan but Salman’s father Salim Khan said that as the lead character is negative, the makers should add the angle of mother in the movie. When Abbas-Mustan refused to do so, Salman Khan rejected “Baazigar”; however, the makers added the angle of mother in the flick after casting Shah Rukh Khan.
4. Ghajini (2008):
“Ghajini” was a remake of a Tamil movie of the same name and it was directed by the same director, A. R. Murugadoss. The actress Asin made her debut in Bollywood with this film and as per reports, not Aamir Khan but Salman was the first choice for the movie but he declined the movie which later went on to become the highest grosser of its time.
5. Josh (2000):
It is being said that the role which was played by Shah Rukh Khan in “Josh” was first offered to Salman Khan but he denied to be a part of the film for the reasons best known to him. While there are some people who believe that Salman didn’t work in “Josh” because of date issues, many other feel that Salman didn’t do the movie as he was not in the mood to play the role of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s brother.
6. Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995):
Directed by Aditya Chopra, “Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge” is one of the biggest and most popular movies of Bollywood and even after so many years of its release, it is still loved by movie lovers. There were some reports which suggested that Salman Khan was also offered the lead role in DDLJ as Shah Rukh Khan was not interested in doing a romantic role at that time but Salman rejected it.
7. Zero (2018):
The movie was directed by Aanand L Rai and it starred Shah Rukh Khan, Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif in lead roles. Initially, the male lead role was first offered to Salman Khan but he didn’t do it and it was then offered to Shah Rukh Khan; however Salman Khan did a cameo in the movie which didn’t fare well at the box-office.
