Just when it seemed like Don 3 was moving forward without its original star, a new twist has reignited excitement among fans. Following Ranveer Singh’s reported exit from the film, fresh buzz suggests that Shah Rukh Khan could be making a dramatic return to the franchise that helped redefine his on-screen swagger.
According to recent reports, Shah Rukh Khan is open to stepping back into the role of Don, a character that became iconic after his performance in the second installment of the series. However, this comeback may not come easily. The actor is said to have placed a major condition before agreeing to the project. He reportedly wants filmmaker Atlee, who directed him in the blockbuster Jawan, to be associated with Don 3. The idea behind this demand is to raise the film’s scale and bring a fresh sense of excitement that matches modern audience expectations. That said, discussions are still ongoing and nothing has been locked in yet.
Don 3 has already seen several shake-ups. Ranveer Singh was initially announced as the new face of the franchise, marking a bold transition from Shah Rukh Khan. However, he reportedly stepped away from the project late last year. Industry chatter suggests his focus shifted after the massive success of Dhurandhar. He is now keen on working with filmmakers known for distinctive storytelling and also wants to avoid being typecast in back-to-back gangster roles.
Casting uncertainty does not end there. Kiara Advani was originally signed as the female lead opposite Ranveer but reports now claim that she has exited the film. Kriti Sanon is said to be in line as her replacement, though no official confirmation has been made. Even the search for a strong villain has hit roadblocks, with multiple actors including Vijay Deverakona and Vikrant Massey turning down the role due to concerns over the character’s depth.
Despite all the changes, Don 3 remains one of the most anticipated films. If Shah Rukh Khan returns, it could be the comeback twist fans never stopped hoping for.
