“South Africa Choked Again,” Twitter Roasts Temba Buava & His Team For Losing To Netherlands

Cricket is certainly a very unpredictable game and it is clearly evident in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2022 which is being played in Australia. We have witnessed few upsets in the tournament, the recent one of which took place yesterday as Netherlands defeated South Africa in the match played at Adelaide Oval. There is no denying the fact that South Africa has a history of messing up in the World Cup campaigns and this is why the Proteas are famous as chokers among cricket fans all over the world. However, still everyone was quite sure that the South African team will definitely play the semi-finals after defeating Netherlands but this time, Temba Buava led side screwed up everything in the Super 12 stage only.

As South Africa lost the match against Netherlands, it gave a chance to Pakistan to enter the semi-finals and it made the most of the opportunity by defeating Bangladesh in a match which was played yesterday at the same venue.

Soon after South Africa lost the match, Twitter trolled the SA team as well as skipper for the dismal performance in the match against Netherlands. Even the legendary former Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar wasn’t able to stop himself from trolling the South African team as he wrote, “Went for breakfast with a friend. Told him we’ll go Dutch. He almost choked at the proposition!”

As far as the match is concerned, the Proteas won the toss and chose to bowl first. Batting first, Netherlands put up a competitive total of 158/4 in its stipulated 20 overs with the help of the contributions made by the top four batters – Stephan Myburgh (37 runs, 30 balls, 7 fours), Max O’Dowd (29 runs, 31 balls, 1 four & 1 six), Tom Cooper (35 runs, 19 balls, 2 fours & 2 sixes) and Colin Ackermann (41 runs not out, 26 balls, 3 fours & 2 sixes).

The Proteas fell 13 runs short as they were able to score only 145/8 in their 20 overs and Netherlands’ cricketer Colin Ackermann was adjudged as the Player of the Match for the superb manner in which he finished the innings of his team.

The first semi-final will be played between New Zealand and Pakistan on 9th Nov 2022 at Sydney Cricket Ground while the second semi-final will be played on 10th Nov 2022 between England and India at Adelaide Oval.
