One of the longest running shows of the Indian television, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah (TMKOC) has been making headlines for mostly wrong reasons and it won’t be wrong to say that the viewers are tired of Dayaben’s absence from the serial.
Disha Vakani, the actress who used to play Dayaben in the serial, took maternity leave in 2017 but she hasn’t returned since then. The producer Asit Kumarr Modi has many times reiterated that he will either bring Disha Vakani back in the show or rope in another actress to play the character pretty soon but it seems that the patience of the viewers is getting over now.
Recently, #BoycottTMKOC started trending and the rumours of the serial going off-air also began doing rounds. When fans started questioning the makers regarding it, Asit Kumarr Modi issued a statement in which he cleared the air regarding TMKOC’s airing.
He stated that he is there to entertain the audiences and he won’t be lying to them. He accepts that due to some circumstances, they are not able to bring the character of Dayaben back in the serial but it doesn’t mean that Dayaben will not come at all. He goes on to say that whether it will be Disha Vakani or some other actress, only time will tell but one thing is for sure that the character of Dayaben will be back soon and it is his promise to the audiences. He further cleared the air by saying that the serial is not going anywhere, it is not an easy thing to run a show for a long period of 15 years which hasn’t taken a single leap and this makes it one of a kind serial.
Many actors who were associated with Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah from the beginning have left the show and few of them had a controversial exit.
