Troll Asks Smriti Irani About Sindoor And Gotra, She Shuts Him Down Like A Boss

Gotra seems to be the talk of the town at present. In Hindu culture, gotra refers to the clan or the lineage of a person. As it turns out, when it comes to casteism, Gotra is one of the most important aspects.

Recently, there has been much speculation over Rahul Gandhi’s Gotra, with the BJP showing special interest in the matter. It was declared that he was a Dattatreya, a Kashmiri Brahmin. Now that of course instantly became an internet meme.

Following that, another politician became the victim of such an attack on twitter when someone asked Smriti Irani about her Gotra. He said, “May I have the privilege to ask the gotra of @smritiirani ji, her husband and kids? The sindoor she wear is religious or style statement?”

Questions were also raised on her prominent sindoor. He asked her if the sindoor she wears is because of religious values or if they created a style statement. But Smriti Irani has never taken haters lying down and she knows how to shut trolls up like a boss.

She replied, “My gotra is Kaushal Sir as is my father’s as was his father’s and his father’s and his father’s…My husband and children are Zoroastrians so can’t have a gotra. The sindoor I wear is my belief as a practising Hindu. Now get back to your life. धन्यवाद.”

Now that’s some reply, you have to admit!

Of course, several people continued to troll her, but Smriti put up another post which read, “Public Disclaimer —- as a public figure when asked questions (no matter how infuriating )it is my responsibility to respond however as an Indian let me proudly say मेरा धर्म हिंदुस्तान है मेरा कर्म हिंदुस्तान है मेरी आस्था हिंदुस्तान है मेरा विश्वास हिंदुस्तान है:

Isn’t the gotra politics getting out of hand now?
