Undoubtedly, there are many non-resident Indians who are making the country proud with their hard work and intelligence in the foreign countries but it is also true that the majority of the Indians lack civic sense and there are quite a few who are making foreign people hate Indians with their acts.

An Indian man residing in the United States with his family has publicly criticized a fellow Indian neighbor for displaying inconsiderate behavior and a lack of basic civic sense. Expressing his frustration on Reddit, he claimed that the family’s actions had subjected him to anti-Indian jokes from his American neighbors, causing him embarrassment.

In his post, the man highlighted the couple’s habit of speaking loudly and also accused them of spitting gutkha, leaving unsightly stains all over the building premises.

He wrote, “Some people from India have 0 civic sense. I’ve lived in this building in the USA for the past six years and never had an issue like this. The building here is made of wood, not concrete, so people must be mindful about talking, walking, and running at the place. Recently, a couple with their son and daughter moved downstairs, and since then, the entire building’s life has become a hellhole. They walk and stomp around their place like crazy, shaking the whole building, including other neighbors’ TVs and furniture. This starts the moment they wake up and continue until sunset.”

His frustration resonated with many users on the platform, sparking a heated discussion about cultural awareness and respect for communal spaces.

One Reddit user suggested that capturing a video of the spitting incident and reporting it to the police might be an effective solution, as legal repercussions could deter such behavior. Another user commented on the mentality of some Indians who relocate abroad without adapting to their new environment, stating that moving to a different country does not automatically resolve deep-rooted habits.

Another community member shared a personal experience about encountering similar behavior at a restaurant. They recalled an incident where an Indian family displayed poor dining etiquette, leaving bones on the table and licking their fingers excessively. The father’s lack of awareness, coupled with his children’s lack of manners, left a lasting impression on them. The user even admitted to imagining reprimanding the parents for their behavior.

Providing an update on the situation, the man who made the post revealed that the building management had intervened and launched an investigation into the complaints against the problematic family. He noted that while the accused neighbors claimed they were being harassed, the management, familiar with the complainant for over six years, acknowledged the validity of the grievances and agreed to look into the matter further.
