Something unusual was clearly brewing at Aamir Khan’s Mumbai home on Thursday evening. As car after car pulled away, carrying some of the biggest names in Bollywood production, industry watchers couldn’t help but wonder what was going on behind closed doors.
According to a report published by a leading publication, the gathering may not have been about a new film or collaboration but about resolving the ongoing dispute between Ranveer Singh and Excel Entertainment.
Among those seen at Aamir Khan’s residence were Excel co-founders Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani, filmmaker Karan Johar, producer Sajid Nadiadwala, television and film producer Ekta Kapoor, filmmaker Zoya Akhtar, and Punit Goenka, MD and CEO of Zee Entertainment Enterprises. The presence of such influential figures suggested that the matter being discussed was serious.
Sources say that Aamir Khan is trying to help settle the issues between Ranveer Singh and Excel Entertainment. The disagreement reportedly began after Ranveer exited Don 3, which is being produced by Excel. Reports claim there were differences over the script and delays in the project. Excel Entertainment is said to have sought Rs 40 crore in compensation, pointing to expenses already incurred during pre-production, changes in schedules and related losses. The production house reportedly maintains that much of the groundwork had been completed with Ranveer’s approval.
From Ranveer Singh’s side, the concerns appear to be different. It has been reported that he was unhappy with the script and worried about how the project was being managed. There were also claims that a finalised bound script was not in place. Additionally, Ranveer has reportedly argued that he did not receive any advance payment and was not compensated for time lost when other films, including Baiju Bawra, were shelved.

The Producers Guild of India has reportedly stepped in to mediate the matter. Insiders believe Aamir Khan may be acting as a neutral and respected voice, trying to bring both sides to the table and prevent the disagreement from escalating further.
For now, the industry is watching closely, hoping that this high-level meeting will help restore peace between one of the leading stars of Bollywood and a major production house.
