According to media reports, this step is part of a broader effort to settle differences with Excel Entertainment, the production house behind the film. In addition to returning the money, Ranveer has reportedly offered the company a stake in his upcoming project, tentatively titled Pralaay. However, the exact percentage of this stake has not been revealed yet.

It is important to note that neither Ranveer Singh nor Farhan Akhtar nor Excel Entertainment has officially confirmed these developments so far.

The conflict reportedly began when Ranveer exited Don 3, a film that had already entered pre-production under Excel Entertainment. The situation escalated due to disagreements over the script and delays in the project. Reports previously suggested that the production house was seeking ₹40 crore in compensation, citing expenses related to pre-production, scheduling changes and other losses. The makers claimed that significant groundwork had already been completed with Ranveer’s approval.

On the other hand, Ranveer Singh’s exit was reportedly driven by dissatisfaction with the script, lack of a finalised version and concerns about how the project was being managed. As tensions grew, the Producers Guild of India was also said to have stepped in to mediate.

There were also rumours about Aamir Khan trying to resolve the issue but he denied any involvement.

As for Don 3, its future remains uncertain, with ongoing speculation about casting and direction. An official update from the makers is still awaited.
