Sometimes, an old film can suddenly find a new audience for reasons nobody could have predicted. That is exactly what has happened with Ravi Kishan’s 2013 Bhojpuri action movie Dhurandhar: The Shooter, which has witnessed a major resurgence more than a decade after its release.

The actor recently spoke about the unexpected trend during the trailer launch event of Dhamaal 4 in Mumbai. Ravi Kishan said he was pleasantly surprised to see people rediscovering a film that was released 13 years ago and enjoying it in large numbers.
According to the actor, the renewed attention is largely due to the massive popularity of the 2025 Bollywood film Dhurandhar. He explained that many viewers searching online for the newer movie or trying to follow the buzz surrounding it ended up watching his Bhojpuri film because both projects share the same title. Ravi said such unexpected developments often happen in his life and expressed gratitude for the attention his older film has received.
He also joked that the sudden surge in viewership has become a windfall for everyone connected to the project. In a light-hearted remark, he said the producers and rights holders must be extremely happy with the unexpected success and increased interest in the film.

Originally released in July 2013, Dhurandhar: The Shooter was directed by Deepak Tiwari and starred Ravi Kishan alongside Sangeeta Tiwari. While the movie had its own fan base when it first arrived in theatres, it has recently gained fresh popularity online. As viewers searched for information about the newer Dhurandhar, many came across the Bhojpuri action film instead. Since then, clips from the movie have gone viral across various social media platforms, introducing it to a new generation of viewers.
The unusual situation has created a rare connection between two very different films. Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar is a large-scale spy franchise with a massive budget and nationwide appeal, while Ravi Kishan’s Dhurandhar was a regional action entertainer made on a comparatively modest budget. Despite the difference in scale, the similarity in titles has unexpectedly brought attention to both projects.
Reflecting on the development, Ravi once again said he finds the situation amusing and remarkable. He noted that many people tracking the new film’s success ended up discovering and watching his version as well.

Meanwhile, Ravi Kishan is preparing for the release of Dhamaal 4, directed by Indra Kumar. The comedy adventure stars Ajay Devgn, Arshad Warsi, Riteish Deshmukh, Jaaved Jaaferi, Sanjay Mishra, Esha Gupta, Sanjeeda Shaikh and Upendra Limaye. The film is scheduled to release in theatres on July 10, 2026.
At the same time, Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar franchise continues its record-breaking run. Starring Ranveer Singh as undercover operative Jaskirat Singh Rangi, the two-part spy saga has reportedly earned more than ₹3,100 crore worldwide, becoming the first Indian film franchise to cross the ₹3,000 crore milestone.
