Bharat Bandh was called by Dalit organisations against the Supreme Court’s order that bans automatic arrests and registration of criminal cases against the accused in the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989.

The Modi government is also of the opinion that such amendment will dilute the act and this may result in rise in crime against the SC-ST community.

Protests were organised in various cities against the order of the court and a nation-wide Bandh was called on April 2. Some instances of violence were reported and roads were blocked at many places. It won’t be incorrect to say that these protestors did whatever they wanted and created chaos for common public.

However, there was one Sikh man who didn’t listen to them and made it clear to protesters that they just can’t make everyone live on their terms by threatening them.

Protestors were blocking the road in Ambala highway when a Nihang Sikh with his wife came in a car and refused to return. In fact, he shouted at the top of his voice that he is not a slave of protestors and they can protest wherever they want.

The Sikh stopped the car as the protestors asked for it but he denied returning, citing that it was an emergency but one person from the crowd abused the Sikh. This made him so angry that he ran after that person with a sword in hand and didn’t listen to the protestors.
