Television actor Karan Oberoi was arrested on Monday in Mumbai, Oshiwara for allegedly raping and blackmailing a woman.
Karan was part of the leading television series Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahi and was also a part of Inside Edge. In his little span of a career, he was also part of several advertisement commercials of Lamborghini, Jack & Jones, FBB, Royal Enfiled etc.
An FIR was registered against Oberoi at Oshiwara Police Station in Mumbai under sections 376 and 384 of the Indian Penal Code.
As per the police, the actor allegedly raped the women on the false promise of marriage. The victim is an astrologer by profession and knew the actor since 2016.
The police officer said quoting the FIR, Oberai not only raped the woman but even recorded the act and also demanded money from her threating to release the video if not paid the desired amount.
Karan was produced before a magistrate court at Andheri on Monday.
