Few Bollywood projects generate as much excitement as Krrish 4 but the highly anticipated superhero film recently found itself at the center of controversy for all the wrong reasons. Reports claiming a major disagreement between Hrithik Roshan and Aditya Chopra over the film’s budget quickly spread across the industry, leading many fans to wonder whether the project had been delayed indefinitely.

Now, filmmaker Rakesh Roshan has stepped forward to set the record straight.
There were rumours that Hrithik Roshan demanded a massive budget of nearly ₹500 crore for top-tier visual effects and world-class action sequences, while Aditya Chopra wanted to keep costs capped at ₹350 crore; however, Rakesh Roshan dismissed the reports outright. Speaking in an interview, he called the claims “nonsense” and stressed that creating a high-quality film for a wide audience takes time and careful planning.

Rakesh Roshan also pointed out that every film in the Krrish franchise has gone through a lengthy development process before reaching audiences. According to him, the delay has nothing to do with creative or financial disagreements.
Explaining the actual reason behind the wait, the veteran filmmaker revealed that Hrithik Roshan is currently occupied with commitments related to the production house he launched earlier this year. In a humorous remark, he said, “Krrish is on another planet and we are all waiting for his dates,” before clarifying that there are no issues between the team members. He emphasised that Krrish 4 remains a collaborative effort between Aditya Chopra, Hrithik Roshan and him.

The speculation originated from a report by trade website, which claimed that discussions between Hrithik Roshan and Yash Raj Films were still ongoing. The report suggested that Aditya Chopra was aiming for a budget of around ₹350 crore to keep the project commercially sustainable, while Hrithik envisioned a larger-scale production closer to ₹500 crore as he prepares for his directorial debut.
Krrish 4 is being developed in association with Yash Raj Films. Interestingly, Hrithik Roshan’s most recent collaboration with the studio, War 2, failed to deliver the expected box-office results. While attending an event in Dubai, Hrithik openly acknowledged the setback, thanking fans for their continued love and support despite the film’s disappointing performance.

The Krrish franchise began with Koi Mil Gaya, where Rohit Mehra gains extraordinary abilities through an alien named Jadoo. Those powers are later inherited by his son Krishna Mehra who becomes the superhero Krrish. Over the years, the series has established itself as one of the most iconic superhero franchises of Bollywood.
Apart from Krrish 4, Hrithik Roshan has also joined hands with Hombale Films, the studio behind Kantara, for a new project described as a story of grit, grandeur, glory and imagination, promising nothing less than a cinematic “Big Bang”.
