The location manager of Narcos, the Netflix Series, has been shot dead while searching for locations in Mexico for the 4th season.
Yes, Carlos Munoz Portal (37) was associated with many US film and TV productions in Mexico as location manager.
Carlos had worked with many high profiles like “Fast & Furious”, “Apocalypto”, “Spectre” and “Sicario”. He was shot down and his car and bullet-riddled body were found in Hidalgo state’s remote area. According to statistics, the murder rate at this place is very high.
Even in the month of July, around 182 homicide cases were reported in this area. Since there were no enough witnesses, the exact cause of his death and the facts surrounding the same couldn’t be verified.
Even Netflix gave a confirmation of this news. As per the statement, Netflix said, “We are aware of the death of Carlos Muñoz Portal, a respected location manager, and offer our condolences to his relatives. The facts are still unknown as authorities continue to investigate what happened.”
Now, there’s fear that after the killing of Munoz, the productions might have to be shifted to some other country. According to a friend of Munoz, he had driven to a location just for taking some clicks for Netflix; shockingly, Munoz’s body was found hours later and he had been brutally shot.
It is assumed that the locals must have been frightened seeing a camera in the hands of an unknown person, which is why they killed him.
Police officials say, “We do not know if he was in Hidalgo and from there they followed him or if he was in the state of Mexico and tried to flee towards Hidalgo”.
