Govinda has long been celebrated not only for his comic timing, dancing flair, and box-office hits but also for his enduring partnership with his wife, Sunita Ahuja. Their marriage, spanning decades, has weathered both the glitz of Bollywood success and the strain of constant speculation. Sunita, known for her strong personality and steady presence, has always stood by Govinda, making them one of the most talked about couples in the industry. This mix of love, loyalty and rumours connects directly with the recent resurfacing of old comments about their relationship.
Amid ongoing reports of divorce proceedings, film producer Pahlaj Nihalani’s past interview in which he talked about the couple has gone viral. Pahlaj Nihalani, who had once been close to Govinda, firmly believed their marriage was unshakeable despite gossip. He dismissed the whispers about the alleged affairs of Govinda, insisting that Sunita’s forthright nature and Govinda’s commitment made their bond unique and enduring. For him, their love was something that could withstand public scrutiny and private challenges alike and their marriage will last even if Govinda has 10 affairs.
Pahlaj Nihalani had also pointed out that their unconventional way of living often invited unnecessary speculation. According to him, they maintained two separate residences because of Govinda’s late working hours and love for long conversations with friends, while Sunita managed the household and family matters with their children. Sunita herself had admitted in an interview that they lived across two houses, though she later clarified that this arrangement was simply practical, not evidence of discord.
The old remarks have regained relevance after reports claimed that Sunita filed for divorce in December 2024, citing adultery, cruelty and desertion. However, subsequent stories suggested that the two reconciled and were back together, though rumours continued to circulate.
Govinda’s manager also added perspective, suggesting that Sunita’s outspoken interviews may have fueled the controversy further, acknowledging that there has been friction between the two.
Meanwhile, Pahalaj Nihalani, though not in close contact anymore, recently visited Govinda after his accident and described them as still being “the best of friends”.
In the end, the story of Govinda and Sunita remains one of love overshadowed by constant public curiosity where affection, loyalty and gossip continue to collide in the glare of celebrity life.
