While many of her followers praised her for her casual charm, one user left a body-shaming remark, suggesting that women of her age should not show their legs and should focus on “ageing gracefully”. The comment drew instant backlash from others, with one follower calling it out as demeaning and a clear example of body-shaming by another woman.
True to her candid personality, Neena Gupta directly replied to the troll, saying that such people usually speak out of jealousy because they do not have the same confidence or body themselves. Her witty response was applauded by fans, who celebrated her refusal to conform to outdated ideas of how older women should dress.
Neena Gupta’s graceful yet bold handling of criticism reflects her broader journey in the industry, where she has consistently defied expectations.
Most recently, she appeared in Anurag Basu’s Metro… In Dino which featured an ensemble cast including Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Ali Fazal, Konkona Sen Sharma, Pankaj Tripathi and Anupam Kher. The film performed well at the box office, further adding to her long list of achievements.
Neena Gupta surely knows how to shut down trolls like a queen, doesn’t she?
